The NIMA Store, Inc. was incorporated in 1994 as a wholly-owned subsidiary of the NIMA (Nunivak Island – Mekoryuk Alaska) Corporation, an Alaska Native Corporation representing the Cup’ig Eskimos of Nunivak Island. The NIMA Corporation was formed pursuant to the Alaska Native Claims Settlement Act [43 USC§1601 et seq.]. Initially, the firm focused on providing consumables, dry
goods, and fuel (diesel and gasoline) to the local community. In 2005, however, the NIMA Store, Inc. expanded into government contracting and began “doing business as” Nuniwar Consolidated Services (NCS) focusing specifically in the field of Information Technology (IT).
NCS obtained its first contracts in 2005 to manage several computer programmer contracts with Northrop- Grumman and the Bureau of Land Management. To further diversify, NCS applied for and received certification through SBA’s 8(a) Business Development Program in 2011. To expand beyond commercial operations, NCS has focused on building strategic relationships with firms that
have been successful in providing full-service operations and support. Specifically, our focus is on the transportation operations and maintenance, supply services, fuels management, and base operating support services areas. This focus builds on our existing expertise from commercial operations.
